Patrick was diagnosed with Cerebellar Abiotrophy in November of 1995. He was three years old at the time. He was the Old English Sheepdog Club of America's national Specialty Best of Winners in Portland, Oregon, 1993. Patrick was also honored as an Award of Merit winner at the Westminister Kennel Club Show in February of 1995.

Patrick died as he lived, with dignity, grace and love. He was the best friend a person could ever ask for. I ask that everyone support the efforts of Cass Moulton and Dr. deLahunta in the hopes to find a cause for the disease that took Patrick's life. I make this request in Patrick's memory.

I thank Cass for her patience, Dr. D. for his dedication. Thanks to Tim. I thank all of my friends for their support. However, most of all, I thank Patrick. He never asked for anything, but gave everything. I will carry the utmost respect for my Patty Cakes for the rest of my life.
